How to Prepare for a Showroom Visit
After installing stone for more than 15,000 jobs in homes, businesses, and even a Major League Soccer stadium and training facility…Go Sporting Kansas City! We’ve come to understand what helps when selecting stone for your own home or business. Our on-site warehouse (the Slabratory) has a fantastic variety of stones to choose from. A great way to streamline the selection and design process is to do a little preparation beforehand.
Read on for our tips on how to prepare for your countertop consultation:
1. Measurements
Whether you are building a home or doing a little remodeling, make sure to bring any and all measurements of the areas of focus for your project. Having a rough sketch with dimensions allows us to offer the best advice and prepare a more accurate quote. For the best results, measure any countertop length from wall to wall, and don’t forget to measure the depth too.
If you need help putting together measurements, you can use our Kitchen or Bathroom template as an example. Simply print the template and use the blank page to draw a diagram of your countertops. Make sure to include the location for sinks, cooktops and other appliances. It’s also helpful to indicate where any walls are located. Sound overwhelming? Do your best, and take advantage of our next tip… Take pictures!
2. Pictures of Your Current Space
We’re professionals and can get a lot of information from a simple cell phone-quality video and pictures. Your pictures will help us understand the current layout of the room and make it easier to interpret your measurements. Snapping a few photos of the project area will be helpful in properly directing you to the right stone for your room’s aesthetics and needs.
3. Inspiration
Bring any pictures you have collected that inspire you. Many visitors come to us with visuals discovered online, in magazines, or from photographs. Websites like houzz.com and Pinterest are great places to find ideas. If you need a bit of extra inspiration, Rocktops has a Pinterest board that we keep updated with fresh designs, or visit the gallery on our website.
4. Paint & Material Samples
Bringing samples of any materials being used in the same room will help you choose the perfect stone to complement the room as a whole. This includes paint samples for the walls or cabinets and any other relevant materials like cabinet finishes, fabrics and flooring
