Bargain Mansions – Season 3, Episode 5
Rocktops was asked by Bargain Mansions to work on another house with them this season. We are always pleased with the incredible opportunity to work with Tamara Day and her team. When taking on an outdated house and transforming it into something spectacular in Kearney, Missouri; we were thrilled to be a part of the Kansas City Countertops process.
LIVING ROOM
First, we start in the family room, the hub of all homes. This room was dark and dated with not a whole bunch of natural light and a fireplace that was dated. This space was incredibly closed off by having five doors, which as a result, made it feel small. Tamara wanted to bring in some natural light by adding simple square windows with the perfect amount of size and height leaving the room seeming taller.
Secondly, the back wall is painted dark blue leaving this living space a feeling of depth. With all the bright whites in the room, the dark wall really draws your eye in. The contrasting white fireplace insert and the beautiful Saratoga soapstone surround and hearth brings this room to fruition. Something to note about the fireplace is the hearth with a mitered edge making it look like a big block of stone, and the seam is practically invisible. The mantle ties everything together with the entryway trim work and the trim work in the office, as well as the repetition of trim work through the entire house being crisp and clean.
KITCHEN + PANTRY
Next, we have the kitchen that has been one of Tamara’s most favorite transformations so far this season. This is a 10-foot island, using a giant slab of Morning Frost quartz and continuing on with bright white walls to match. The use of the quartz for the Kansas City countertops and a white tile backsplash was used to leave the space feeling crisp and clean. In addition, the cabinetry was painted in an elegant dark color to make the kitchen decor really pop with the contrasting bright white. On the side of the island, she went with an “X” detail to hone in on the traditional vibes of the house.
The panty is a dream, with a blush color pink for the cabinets and the same white Morning Frost quartz for the surrounding counter space. This pantry is narrow, but oh so functional and has all the bright natural light coming in through the windows.
MASTER BATHROOM
This master bathroom was a beast in itself for Tamara and her team to tackle. They were able to take some of the unnecessary space and wall it off to create an additional bathroom for the kid’s on the other side. For example, a cabinet was added to create some functionality to an angled wall and storage. The two vanities are made from Ash Gray Honed quartz with a mitered apron edge.
The master shower was so big that it wasn’t necessary to have a tub. The big rain head and the showerheads, along with the shower bench make up for the loss of a tub. The floor and full height tiling patterns were an excellent addition to the details of this bathroom.
KIDS BATHROOM
This bathroom was the additional bathroom created from the excess space from the master bathroom. The simplicity of the Kodiak quartz vanity makes this bathroom clean but elegant. In addition, it can be a perfect bathroom for either boy or girl.
GUEST BATHROOMS
The guest bathrooms all have the simple white Kodiak quartz. As a result, there is so much you can do to accent a simple bathroom vanity. In addition, all the bathroom vanities within this house have an eased edge to keep the consistency going all throughout.
